Welcome From Mayor Edward E. Towns

On behalf of the City of Cochran, I would like to welcome you to our official web site.  Whether you are contemplating making Cochran your new home, or whether you already reside in this wonderful city, I am sure you will find information that will be beneficial to you.

With a population of approximately 4,455, Cochran exemplifies small-town, southern living at it’s best!  Cochran was incorporated in 1869 and is steadily growing and thriving, while still maintaining that personal charm that says “sit back, relax, and stay awhile”.

Cochran has one of the finest school systems in the State of Georgia, and is the home of Middle Georgia College, a unit of the University System of Georgia.  We also have many excellent restaurants, churches of many denominations, excellent police and fire protection, and small privately owned businesses that provide quality service along with a friendly smile.

Cochran is a member of the Georgia Municipal Association and is a Certified City of Ethics.  We were also recently designated as an “Entrepreneur Friendly Community” by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, which means the community has developed an environment that is welcoming to small business and entrepreneurs.  Thru our many organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Cochran Better Hometown, the Industrial Development Authority, and numerous civic organizations, our community leaders are constantly striving to make Cochran the best it can be.

I encourage you to visit Cochran and see what it can offer you.  I am sure you will not be disappointed.
